I want you to do the same before going further with this post. Find a quiet, comfortable place. Sit down and relax with your eyes closed. Now go back to your teenage year, or if you're still in those years, look at what is happening right now. What are the events; people; and places that have shaped your life and how. Now look at all the negatives and write them down.
You see, the reason why we are looking back at the negatives is because I want you to realise if you have a problem or not. If not, close this post and find something interesting on the blog to read.
It is of great importance in any road to recovery to first realize that you have a problem and tell yourself that "self, you have a problem and it needs to be fixed NOW". Only then can you be helped. Look at it this way, how can you fix something if you don't see anything broken on it?
The second step is to think about your dreams and goals and find that inner confidence to tell yourself that you can achieve anything you want to. It may be possible that you dropped out of school during adolescence and now you think that your age is the barrier. Who said that you can't open a book when you're a few years older than you were when you were at school?
Sometimes it's fear more than anything. Vuyisani Hans, author of 'Why Wait: A Motivational Read' explained that fear as "The Conflict Within". He further explains it as 'the soft voice within that tells us we aren't good enough or that the timing is not perfect or we will fail'. It is only when you learn to silence that inner voice and solve the conflict within that you start to realize your full potential.
It is never too late to shoot for the start and reach for your dream. Starting today, keep a journal where your write all your thoughts; plans; and goal. Also, keep a checklist of all your goal and see how far you have got in turning them into success. The most useful tool is the move map. Write it in any way comfortable with you. It can be a mind map, a ladder, or in the form of arrows from first move until your goal. Cross out every move you have completed and try to cross out as much as possible everyday.
Last but not least, read a book. Find self-help books that will help you think like a successful person. Remember, start today!
